Green Party candidate Cathy Green polled ahead of Labour in third place in the Cheltenham Borough
Council All Saints ward by-election. The seat was won by the Liberal Democrats who had held the seat previously.
Cathy Green’s statement:
“I live and work in Cheltenham and as well as being a member of the Green Party and the local Friends of the Earth group, I’m also a trustee of environmental charity, Vision 21 (Gloucestershire).
“I recently researched a carbon footprint analysis of Gloucestershire for Vision 21 so have a good understanding of the potential areas of carbon reduction within Gloucestershire that I can use to influence the county’s policies.
“I am aware that climate change and peak oil together represent the greatest challenges to Gloucestershire’s future and will do everything in my power to ensure that our county is fully prepared for the challenges ahead.
“Greens argue that we need a sense of urgency to tackle climate change that is a threat to our children and grand- children. We are in the politics business because we care.”
